Automatic Analysis of In Situ Cyclic Voltammetry Data
For anyone interested, my thesis is available for download.
I was the software developer for a team of scientists doing ocean research. They would run electricity through water and analyze the signal to figure out chemical concentrations1. The analysis is typically computer-assisted: a trained scientist looks at a graph of the signal and works with the software to identify peaks and their heights.
For my thesis, I looked at automatic analysis, where the software takes in the signal data and puts out the concentration data without any assistance. I did head-to-head testing of techniques adapted from the common non-automatic techniques, as well as some adapted from the fields of signal processing and machine learning, with interesting results.
There are several techniques fitting that description, and cyclic voltammetry is the particular one our team liked to use.↩︎
